And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation
through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Thy word is true from the beginning:
and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

When Heaven Is Brass

Preface

The title “When Heaven Is Brass” is taken from Deuteronomy 28:23, And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron. This verse is concerning the frightening judgment that God pronounced upon the children of Israel for departing from Jehovah God. This is a book on judgment; in particular, the nature of the judgment is by means of torment of the mind and bodily affliction by evil spirits. The day is coming in which God will allow the power of darkness to wreck havoc on earth and men tormented by hellish creatures shall not find death even though they seek for it according to Revelation 9:6, And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

Actually, the author has no intention to write any book let alone a book on the topic that deals with mental illness and spirit possession. Recently, it was heard over a radio program during a talk show in which it was reported that one person committed suicide everyday in Singapore. About two months ago, a person who was known to the author died under mysterious circumstances. Last month, the newspapers reported about quite a number psychosis sufferers seeking help at The Institute of Mental Health. Just two weeks ago, there was a report on people being cheated by tricksters claiming to be able to chase away devils. Such scams are nothing new though. It is against the backdrop of such misfortunes of fallen men that this book is conceived and written. Another reason for the author to write this book is because of the often misinterpretation of the verse in 1 John 4:4, Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. This is the verse commonly used to claim that the forces of darkness cannot touch a Christian.

The author is not writing this book as a textbook to be used by psychologists to study the human mind. This is a Christian book written in the Christian’s perspective concerning troubled minds and tormented bodies of sinners whether saved or lost under the sun. The purpose of the book is to present to the believers in Christ what the Scriptures have to say about mental illnesses and spirit possessions, especially the author himself having had a close brush with such spirits that eventually led to his salvation in the blessed Savior, Jesus Christ. In this book, the author will relate his own limited personal experiences dealing with people who had lost their minds as well as those who were possibly cases of spirit possession. This book also covers the various possibilities in which evil spirits according to the Scriptures could trouble a believer. This book is mostly written in the third person. However, where the events mostly involved the author himself, the first person is used. It is the author’s hope that any child of God reading this book will take heed to God’s warnings in the Bible concerning the serious consequences of walking in the flesh. For a non-Christian reader, it is the desire of the author that such a person will come to the saving knowledge in the Lord Jesus Christ.
