![]() COMPARING SPIRITUAL THINGS WITH SPIRITUAL
![]() The child of God has an unfair advantage over those who are lost when dealing with spiritual matters from the Holy Bible. For the natural man, according to revelation from the Holy Scriptures, indeed cannot receive spiritual truths because he is spiritually discerned. As far as he is concerned, any revealed spiritual truths from the Holy Bible are foolishness to him. Until he is born again and regenerated by the Holy Spirit of God, he cannot hope to ever receive spiritual truths from the Holy Bible because fallen man only has the wisdom of this world that is not from above but are earthly, sensual and devilish! This fact is explicitly explained as follows:
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. (1 Cor 1:25-31)
However, for a child of God, he is instructed that he has the ability to comparing spiritual things with spiritual because he is also told in 1 John 2:20: But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. For indeed, the Holy Spirit, the only Divine Teacher has already come as prophesied by the Lord Jesus Christ in John 16:13-15: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
The author here does not claim infallibility in his writings as only the Holy Scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Timothy 3:16). Nonetheless, it is the desire of the author that all Christians will be like those believers in Berea, searching the Scriptures daily whether those things were so (Acts 17:10&11). Therefore, let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind what the Holy Spirit will teach him from the pure, inspired and infallible Scripture of the Holy Bible.
